Reversible skirts - perfect holiday clothes!

Here's a line up of our new and current reversible skirts. With the holiday season approaching fast (two months to Christmas, eeek!), it is nice to have clothes that can multi-task.

They are effectively two skirts in one so are brilliant for travel and holidays. The skirts have POCKETS in one side and like all our skirts are FLEXI-SIZED due to the snaps that close it across the front. Snaps are about 5cm (approx 2 inches) apart and you can change size by closing more or less snaps.

This one has quite a vintage vibe about the print:

This one continues our poppies theme but is much brighter and goes so well with the blue/green/teals on the other side:

These are the blacks that we put together a couple of months ago. The plain black side is a fabric that is already wrinkled so you don't need to worry about this one getting crushed in your bag:

We've just made a new batch of these beautiful summery butter and raspberry skirts:

And there are still a very few left of the grey floral with spots:

Which one is your favourite or what colour combo would you like us to do next?

Frida is back!

Yay! We have managed to get a little more of the beautiful teal Frida fabric. This won't last long. It is the most popular of all the Minnie + Ree skirts. If you want one the link is here: FRIDA.

Wearing Minnie + Ree 1

It's been a while since I've shown real people wearing Minnie + Ree clothing so here's a compilation of photos.  I still LOVE it when I see someone wearing clothing I have made ...

This collection of photos is from various markets. All are wearing snap wrap skirts in beautiful colours and patterns. All skirt fabrics are cotton and they all have the adjustable snap fastening.

The choices of colours and prints is always changing.  You can check them out on our website HERE.

Remember that it's easy to find your size - we only have two sizes SMALL and AVERAGE. Here's the sizing info from our website:

This cotton skirt is FLEXI-SIZED due to the snaps that close it across the front. Snaps are 5cm (approx 2 inches) apart and you can change size by closing more or less snaps.

There are two SIZES for the skirt. Size AVERAGE fits Aus/NZ 14-16-18. This is approx US 10-16. Size SMALL is Aus/NZ 8-10-12 which is approx US 4-6-8. See Size Chart above for more details or check the measurements in the listing.

The waist measurement at smallest size starts at about 28" or 72 cm and at its larger size goes to about 40-42" or 102-107cm. That still leaves a respectable amount of fabric to cross over!

The snap wrap skirt is knee length. Actual length is about 23 inches (58 cms). The Katydid skirts are about 33 inches (84 cm) long at the front.

The cut is an A-line and like all Minnie + Ree clothing is cut for the straight figure.  If you have an hour glass shape with a tiny waist this skirt will not fit you well (the waist will gape) and you may need your dressmaker to put darts in the back.

I'm having heaps of fun compiling this pics - more soon!!

Belle Frocks - new colours

The new Belle Frocks are coming along nicely.  The most fun, but most time consuming part is the final embellishments.  I love doing them but being a bit of a perfectionist it does sometimes take ages to find the right mix.

Do let me know in the comments section if you think I should leave a few plain.  You could then wear a huge statement necklace instead??

Here's some pics.  They aren't on the website yet.  I took these with my iPhone at the market on Sunday so sorry about the quality ...

These are a burgundy colour - organic cotton fabric. The birds on the main fabric are flying free, the ones on the applique are more goth and caged.

These ones are a beautiful floral, again the fabric is organic cotton and the appliques are in a Matisse style.

These ones are quite a pretty floral print and the appliques are Japanese inspired kawaii.  I so love them!

Email me if you want to buy: minnie.faux at gmail.com.

There are also some others at the Napier pop up shop - there a couple of foxes and the other caramel coloured ones, at the back of the rack!!

There are a few more colours coming - here's the original cutting pics:

New Belle Frocks ...

More colours for the new Belle Frocks
I have been cutting new frocks today. Here's a few pictures of the new colours.

I am trying out some darker colours as I think they will look quite dramatic.

The red/pink floral is from an organic cotton fabric as is the maroon one.

And some maybes for the embellishments but I can never really tell what's best until they are sewn up!

Market style - matchy matchy in a good way

Matching cowgirl bag!
This woman was in the market recently.  Once I spotted her bag I had to get a photo with one of the Minnie + Ree cowgirl skirts.

They were made for each other, yes?

New postcard

We have a new postcard!

After having huge fun making new label tags for our applique slouchy tops I fell in love with the look of the font on my stamp printer wheelie thing (whatever it's called!) and so now that font is taking over!

I also now notice that my favourite pics that got on to the new postcard were all quite summery.  And it's still freezing here!
[And we've had a huge earthquake!!!]

The great thing about this business is that it's either spring/summer or I am planning new clothes and looking at fabric samples for summer.  So check out the summer Belle Frock.  I have made a very few with hand stitched applique and they are stunning.  Of course the new fabric choices will not have this hand stitching.  But they will still be really cool (stylie) and cool (made of nice natural breathable cotton)!

There's the pic of stamp printer wheelie thing - what would you call it???

Skirt of the week - Poppies for ANZACs

I was so happy when I was able to get more of this Poppies fabric - it is beautiful and with New Zealand and Australia just celebrating Anzac day it seems particularly apt.

We will be at Underground Market on Wellington's waterfront again this Saturday 10am-4pm and of course they are available online at MinnieRee.com.  Just click on a skirt to go through to the skirts page!

The belle frock went to Sydney ...

Here are some fabulous photos of the new Minnie + Ree Belle Frock.  Each of these cotton dresses is appliqued with hand stitching so they are all different.

Our favourite photo is this one:

Here's some Sydney icons - sadly we don't need a disclaimer, this photo shoot was not funded by a Sydney tourism promoter!!

And here's our favourite photo again but in an urban mood compilation that appears on the website.

Minnie + Ree's new Belle Frock. It's pure cotton and is a beautiful bell shape with huge pockets and hand-stitched applique. It is the perfect summertime dress and when it gets cooler you can warm it up with a slip and/or tights underneath and a cardigan on top. Each frock in the applique range is different.

The first Belle Frocks are on the website:

Belle frock - new style almost ready ...

The new dress that I have been wearing everywhere lately is nearly ready.  It's pure cotton and is a beautiful bell shape with huge pockets and hand-stitched applique.  It is the perfect summertime dress and we still have some great days left here in the Southern hemisphere before it gets too cold.  Then you can warm it up with a slip and/or tights underneath and a cardigan on top.

Cotton is such a great fabric - I am so looking forward to having a couple of these frocks when I go up to Fiji in a couple of months time.

Here is me doing some hand sewing at the market last Saturday ... I didn't get much done!

Here's a couple of finished ones - the appliques are all different!  I have made the back interesting, a wee applique near the pocket and left the front clear so you can wear a great necklace with it.

Do you need one?  They aren't on the website yet ... they are all size Average so just email me minnie.faux (at) gmail.com
